Mr. Food s Mushroom Barley Soup

Ingredients
 

4 large onions, chopped
6 large carrots, peeled and sliced
1 lb mushrooms, thinly sliced
1 lb stew beef, cut into small cubes
8 cup beef broth (made from a soup base, or a mix)
1 cup medium barley
1/2 tsp poon salt
1/2 tsp black pepper

bring to a boil, stirring occasionally. Reduce the heat and simmer,
partially covered, for about 1 hour. NOTE: If you d like, add 1 or 2
shots of Irish whiskey with the other ingredients for added flavor.
It ll make it really Irish! In addition to the base recipe
ingredients, you might want to add some cut-up hot dogs and a
teaspoon of caraway seed for Germa ½ teaspoon each of oregano and
rosemary for Italian-style soup.
