Pork Chops with Pears

Ingredients
  6 pork chops
Salt and pepper to taste
4 fresh pears, peeled, halved, and cored
2 tbsp orange juice
1/4 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup dry sherry
1 tbsp margarine
1 tbsp cornstarch
1 tbsp water
1 tsp vegetable oil

Preparation
  Heat oven to 350F. Grease bottom of large skillet with a small amount of oil. Brown chops; place in shallow pan and sason with salt and pepper. Arrange pears hollow side up around the prok chips; drizzle orange juice all over. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon; pour sherry over pears and chops.
Divide margarine and place in hollow of pears. Bake covered at 350 for 50 minutes. Uncover during the last 20 minutes. Place pears and chops on platter. Dissolve cornstarch in water. Add to jiced in pan and heat until mixture boils and thickens, stirring constantly. Pour over chops and pears.
