Sugar Cookies/State Fair Of Texas

1 c Sugar

1 c Butter or shortening

1 Egg

2 c Flour

1/2 ts Salt

1 ts Baking powder

1 ts Vanilla

1 ts Butter flavoring

Blend butter and sugar. Add egg and beat well. Add dry ingredients and blend well. Roll into 1" rolls and place in waxed paper, chill in refrigerator until firm. Slice into 1/2" slices.
